Originally known as the Chieftan Hotel, the Bluffs Tower Historic Renovation is beginning construction.
Built between 1926-1927, the Bluffs Tower construction project is located in downtown Council Bluffs, Iowa. The building features four components. The Main Block is an 8-story high-rise with three attached wings: the Dining Room, Trianon Ballroom, and Loggia. Currently, the building bears the street address of 38 Pearl Street. Originally, it bore a First Avenue address. The building was converted from a hotel to an apartment building in the 1970s. The current construction renovation will encompass 70 units and 73,000 SF. Floors 3-8 which house the residential units will be completely remodeled with new fixtures, cabinets, countertops and appliances while maintaining the historic fabric of the building. Floors 1 and 2 showcase many decorative plaster features which will be restored to their original form. Construction is scheduled for completion in early 2019. Ronco Construction is the general contractor with Emswiller Architecture leading the design team.
